How we install it
Four ways to install underfloor heating
Which one suits your floor depends on its build-up, the height you can spare and whether a new screed is coming. We see it in one go at the survey.
Tied to steel mesh
The pipes are fixed to steel mesh and fully embedded in the new sand-cement screed. The go-to method for new builds and renovations that get a new screed anyway.
The deeper the pipe sits in the floor, the more evenly the heat spreads.
Milled into sand-cement
We mill channels into your existing screed and lay the pipes in them. The floor stays in place and you lose almost no height.
Usually the most economical method for an existing floor.
Milled into Fermacell
The pipes go into Fermacell floorboards: a dry build-up, no wet screed. For upper floors and timber floors.
Virtually no extra build-up height.
On tacker panels
The pipes are stapled onto insulated panels, then the screed goes over the top. The insulation keeps the heat in your floor, not underneath it.
Efficient heating; slightly more build-up height than milling.
We work with systems from Nathan: Uponor pipework and Komfort SBK manifolds, with or without a pump, depending on your heat source. Which method suits your floor is something we see at the free home survey.

Often, yes: we mill the pipes into your existing floor, without any demolition. The floor height doesn't change and it's usually done in a day. During the survey we look at what suits your floor.
That depends on your situation. In an existing home, milling is almost always the smartest choice; in a new build or with a new screed you go for steel mesh or tacker panels. We advise honestly what suits you, see also the four methods above.
